Side by Side Comparison (Basic Access vs. Full Membership)
$70.00 / 1 year OR $304.50 / 5 years
Professional Members are individuals educated with university or college degrees and/or certified professionals employed in the fields of health education, physical education, recreation, or dance. Individuals who are employed in the fields of health education, physical education, recreation, or dance and/or attending graduate school part time must be professional members.
$60.00 / 1 year
Associate Members are individuals not qualifying for another form of membership, for example, teacher aides, teachers certified in another teaching area.
$20.00 / 1 year
Student Members are undergraduate students and full time graduate students, enrolled at colleges and universities preparing for careers in health education, physical education, recreation, dance, or allied fields. Individuals who are employed in the fields of health education, physical education, recreation, or dance and/or attending graduate school part time must be professional/ associate members. ** Student Members must use their University email address when signing up and list their attending University as their School District/ Employer/ Organization.**
Retired Members are individuals who have retired from employment and who have been Professional Members of any state association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance for a total of 20 years, which must include 10 consecutive years as a member of TAHPERD. Individuals who qualify for membership as a Retired Member shall be eligible to participate in all activities of TAHPERD, including holding office and voting. Individuals who are employed in the fields of health education, physical education, recreation, or dance and/or attending graduate school part time must be professional members.
Emeritus Members are individuals who have been a Professional Member of any state association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance for a total of 30 cumulative years or 25 consecutive years, either of which must include 10 years as a member of TAHPERD, or any predecessor association, and who have retired from employment in the field of health, physical education, recreation, and dance. Persons who qualify for membership as an Emeritus Member shall be eligible, without dues, to participate in all membership activities of TAHPERD; except that, no such members may hold an elected office in TAHPERD. These members shall also receive the TAHPERD Journal without cost.

Volunteer and Leadership Opportunities
TAHPERD offers an open invitation to members who want to take a participative role in the success of their professional association. Committees are selected once a year in the fall for the upcoming year. If you would like to be considered for a committee, email Rachel Naylor and indicate the committee(s) of interest. Should your situation change and other commitments not permit you to participate, you need only decline our invitation. We hope to hear from you.
Publications
TAHPERD membership includes two journals (Spring and Summer Issues). TAHPERD publishes peer-reviewed research based articles and/or activities/experiences that have worked exceptionally well in the classroom. If you have an interest in submitting an article, please refer to the “Guidelines for Authors.” We also publish Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) Guidebooks for both health and physical education for various grade levels. These have proven to be a valuable resource to teachers and administrators.
Newsletters
All newsletters are electronic and emailed to members. TAHPERD provides our members with the most recent health, physical education, recreation, and dance news and announcements of events, legislative issues, and other items of interest.

Member E-Services
TAHPERD has several electronic member services available at our website www.tahperd.org. The services available online are Update, Directory, Renewal, Professional Development History and Online Registration. The newest feature is access to Online Membership Cards. Current members can print their card whenever they need it simply by logging into their member profile. The membership card button is located on the left side of your profile information.
