Encourage your kids to take the Healthy Summer Challenge!
Summer is a time to relax and enjoy downtime, but don’t forget that staying active and eating healthy is still important. Getting 30-60 minutes of physical activity a day and eating 5 servings of fruits and vegetables is essential to child health.
TAHPERD member, Selina Hemphill's Health class at Refugio High School, coordinated with Health Agent Boogie Barber, of Refugio County Texas Agrilife Extension Office to supplement her nutrition lesson. Students calculated calories for their smoothies, read labels and then used the bike to make their smoothies.
