Reporting FITNESSGRAM Results to TEA
Due
May 31, 2008
TEA has announced the method to report FITNESSGRAM results in May and a letter has been sent to each school districts' administrator describing the process. Large and Small Area Network users (versions of FITNESSGRAM software) will need to appoint one district data submitter. Stand Alone users will need to appoint one data submitter per campus. In all cases, it is recommended that this individual have technology background.

In order to upload your FITNESSGRAM data to the Texas Education Agency, you must access the PFAI Web application through the Texas Education Agency Secure Environment (TEASE). This means you MUST have a valid TEASE user name and password, and you MUST add the PFAI application to your TEASE account.

If you already have a TEASE user name and password, you still need to request access to PFAI. If you have never used TEASE before, you need to request a TEASE account with access to PFAI.

FITNESSGRAM Testing
Many of our members are beginning to administer the FITNESSGRAM tests required by state law. This is a clarification of what tests are required for reporting to TEA.

There are 6 categories in FITNESSGRAM. Within 4 of these categories, you may choose which of the fitness tests you want to use to report that category. Some school districts have made a selection and are requiring all their teachers to use the same test for that category. Other districts have allowed the teachers to select which test they want for a particular category. Either way will work with FITNESSGRAM since the report will be the health fitness zone for a student in each category. This fitness zone can be determined with the choice of tests available.

CATEGORIES:
>> Aerobic Capacity: May choose - The Pacer or One-mile run or Walk Test for secondary students

>> Body Composition: May choose - Skinfold Measurements or Body Mass Index (BMI) or Bioelectric Impedance Analyzers.

>> Abdominal Strength & Endurance: Curl-up (no other choice)

>> Trunk Extensor Strength & Flexibility: Trunk Lift (no other choice)

>> Upper Body Strength & Endurance: May choose - 90 degree push-up or Modified pull-up or Flexed arm hang

>> Flexibility: May choose - Back-saver Sit and Reach or Shoulder Stretch
