TAHPERD
Texas Physical Education Framework
The purpose of the Texas Physical Education Framework is to help provide support to school districts and TAHPERD members in their curriculum development. The state TEKS were vertically aligned. Local TEKS were developed to help “fill in the progression gaps” that were missing. The specificity of each state and local TEKS were developed to define minimum content standards and to help standardize student expectations throughout the state. The bundles were developed to help facilitate teaching units.
The Texas Physical Education Framework documents were developed by a state wide committee of over 70 dedicated and passionate physical education teachers and coordinators. The committee followed the John Crain process of curriculum development.
