Rose Haggerty
President, 2013
Rose Haggerty serves as Houston ISD’s manager of secondary health and physical education. She has more than 32 years of experience in public education in Texas and Kansas . She has served as a teacher at virtually all grade ranges (elementary, middle, etc.) from kindergarten to college. Haggerty’s grant-writing skills have secure funds from organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control and the U.S. Department of Education to promote various health and fitness initiatives. A 14-year member of TAHPERD, Haggerty has served as a committee participant, a section chair, a vice president of the board of directors, and as President. She was the inaugural recipient of the 2007 TAHPERD K-12 Administrator of the Year Award. You can reach Rose at :

Henry Ross
President-elect, 2013
Henry H. Ross holds a BS (1978-Kentucky State Univ, MS (1981-Southern Illinois Univ-Carbondale and EdD (2007-Texas A&M University-Commerce. He began his teaching/coaching career in 1978 at Lemon-Monroe High School in Ohio and moved to college teaching and coaching in 1981 at Kentucky State University. In 1985 he accepted a teaching position in the Department of Health and Physical Education and a football coaching position at Texas A&M Univ-Commerce (East Texas State Univ). During his tenure as a TAMU-C football coach, he helped guide the Lions to the Lone Star Conference Championship and the Quarter Finals of the NCAA-II football playoffs. In 1999 he retired from coaching and joined TAHPERD. He has been involved in numerous scholarly presentations, held several leadership positions, and served on numerous committees within the organization. In 2008, he was chosen the TAHPERD University Health Educator of the Year.


Bob Sanderson

Bob Sanderson began his teaching/coaching career in 1976 at Marion County High School, Lebanon, Kentucky. In 1985 he attended his first TAHPERD convention after moving to Texas in 1983. He taught at Abilene High School for the last 27 of his 34 years in secondary education. He continues to teach classes in leadership, cycling, recreation, and outdoor education for Hardin-Simmons and McMurry Universities. You can reach Bob

Emily Allen, ext. 21
Communications Manager
Emily Allen is a graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. Emily’s design experience spans a wide variety of genres, ranging from newspaper advertising at the San Antonio Express-News to logo and theme creation for Texas Nurse Practitioners. With the new logo in place Emily looks forward to further molding TAHPERD’s updated image.

Lynda Alvarado, ext. 15
Membership & Registration Manager
Lynda Alvarado joined TAHPERD in March 2005. She has 20+ years of experience working for educational association’s such as the Texas Association for School Boards and the Texas Association of School Business Officials. As membership and registration manager she is responsible for processing all memberships and registrations for the various conferences and convention.

Diana Everett, ext. 11
Executive Director
Diana joined TAHPERD in November 1999. She holds a doctorate in sport administration from Texas Woman's University and prior to moving into not-for- profit association management, she taught physical education, health, and biology and coached for eleven years at various high schools in Texas.

Lisa Fall, CMP, ext. 14
Director of Conventions & Meetings
Lisa Fall, CMP joined TAHPERD in February 1999, as the Director of Conventions & Meetings, responsible for the logistical planning/coordination of the association’s conferences and convention. Lisa began her meeting management career in 1990 and achieved the Certified Meeting Professional designation in 1995. She holds a BBA in Marketing from the University of Texas at Austin.

The Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance (TAHPERD) is a not-for-profit professional association of individuals in the allied fields of health education, physical education, recreation, and dance.This Texas-based association is composed of over 4,500 professional and students members serving education from kindergarten through college. While most of our members are employed in public or private education, individuals representing interests in government and private agencies, business, and health care provision are increasing their voice in our membership. TAHPERD was founded in 1923 and is the only association in Texas serving education in all four of our disciplines—health, physical education, recreation, and dance.
